interview number 10!

Posted 2nd November 2006 18:24 by Mark Turner

It’s Bcdefg123 again, and we’re finally at the 10th interview!

Bcdefg123: Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

MikkyX: Well, I'm 24, live in England and as well as doing web design as a hobby it's also been my job for about four and a half years.

When I'm not doing web design I like to relax by playing games (mostly Pro Evolution Soccer, Football Manager, or Singstar with my girlfriend), watching TV (CSI, live football and I'm currently working my way through every series of 24), DVDs (mostly comedy - after some of the days I have I can use cheering up!) or reading books - amusingly, most of my books are about web design. So when I'm not indulging my hobby, I'm reading about it instead.

Bcdefg123: When did Cyberscore first go online?

MikkyX: It first went online in April 2002 after several aborted smaller scale attempts at high scores focusing on specific platforms. There was a Dreamcast effort and a GBA effort.

Bcdefg123: How long did it take to make?

MikkyX: It took months, initially but I was able to devote a lot more time to it back then. Rewrites now take YEARS due to other commitments (my job - as a web designer! - my girlfriend, other projects which bring in the money to pay for CS, that sort of thing)

Bcdefg123: How many members joined when it started?

MikkyX: It was quite a slow start if I'm being honest. A list of membership milestones can be seen on the site milestones page.

Bcdefg123: When did you first think about doing something like this in any way, shape, or form?

MikkyX: I first started thinking about a high score site about 6 years ago, hence the failed pre-Cyberscore attempts. They were mostly just something to practice my coding skills on - Cyberscore was the first site like this I'd actually considered more long term and hoped for success. I'd done sites before Cyberscore (I've been at it since 1996!) but none as popular.

Bcdefg123: Which next-gen system are you planning to buy/have already?

MikkyX: I've already got an Xbox 360, I hope to pick up a Wii and there's no way I'm paying Sony's asking price for the over expensive, over delayed PS3. I don't love Singstar quite that much.

Bcdefg123: The question that everyone is asking, when is Retroscore coming out?

MikkyX: No-one should be asking that any more as Retroscore was canned a long time ago in favour of integrating retro games into the Cyberscore charts. Doesn't take a genius to notice this hasn't happened and I'm not going to put a date on when it will as I'm worse than Sony at hitting them. Unfortunately myself and my co-coder are just too busy at the moment.

Bcdefg123: Any last words you want to put in?

MikkyX: Only to thank people for continuing to visit CS and to apologise, once again, for the lack of activity. If my REAL job ever calms down and I can get back into my hobby again, I promise the next version of Cyberscore will blow people away.

Bcdefg123: Hope you all liked that! Keep submitting records as always, and you might end up here!
